Angelina Jolie Makes First Red Carpet Appearance Since Double Mastectomy Announcement
Angelina Jolie typically attracts attention when she hits the red carpet, but her appearance Sunday at the London premiere of "World War Z" was decidedly different.
Four months to the next day of the Academy Award-winning actress started the 3 months of surgical procedure necessitated for her preventive double mastectomy — and nearly 3 weeks after going public together with her decision in a Ny Times op-ed piece — she launched a triumphant get back to the red carpet, for the arm of fiancé Brad Pitt, and looked more radiant than ever.
"I have already been happy simply to understand the discussion of women's health expanded — this means the world to my opinion," Jolie told the Associated Plough on the red carpet. "After losing my mom to issues, I'm very grateful for doing this, and I have been moved by the kind support from people."
The 37-year-old wore a floor-length black dress with layers of draped fabric within the high-neck top plus a sheer panel across her stomach, creating a subtle peek-a-boo effect.
Jolie posed alone for photographers — back with her megawatt grin on full display — together with arm-in-arm with "WWZ" star Pitt. At many point they posed face-to-face just holding 1 another and smiling.
Pitt, who was simply also dressed up in all black, had his long hair down with the special event. While he's kept his locks mostly inside a messy ponytail at recent events, it looked heavily styled — which is almost providing Jolie's.
